TRAINING

This specialized training program is designed to help airline staff, from flight attendants to customer service agents, gain a deep understanding of the diverse needs of autistic and sensory-sensitive passengers. The Autism Certified Airline™ program focuses on key areas to ensure that passengers receive compassionate and effective support throughout their journey.

In-flight standards

In-flight standards focus on ensuring that airline staff are equipped with the knowledge and strategies to support autistic and sensory-sensitive passengers during the flight, including managing sensory overload, providing clear communication, and offering calming assistance when needed.

On-ground standards

On-ground standards involve preparing airline staff to assist passengers before and after the flight, including at check-in, security, boarding, and deplaning, by addressing sensory triggers and offering tailored support to create a smoother, more comfortable airport experience.

This is not a pass/fail audit but an opportunity to review current practices, highlight strengths, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance accessibility and the overall traveler experience.

Sensory Guides

Sensory Guides are seating-based guides developed by IBCCES including the sensory load measurements from the onsite review.

Sensory Index™ Scores

An IBCCES Sensory Index™ score measures the impact of turbulence on autistic passengers and other sensory-sensitive individuals.
