UNO Parks Earns 2019 Best Social Initiative Award from the European Union

UNO Parks received the 2019 Best Social Initiative Award from the European Union as a result of becoming the first Certified Autism Center™ in Europe. Since becoming a Certified Autism Center™, UNO Park now understands how to better understand and serve their guests with special needs. The certification boosted company morale and empowered the staff to provide better service for all guests. The training process was quick, easily accessible, full of interesting insights as well as very practical. The recommendations after the onsite visit were extremely helpful and the team is working now on the implementation of these recommendations, which will be done for the next season.

As a result, we have received a great deal of press coverage and have been awarded several international awards including the 2019 Best Social Initiative award from the European Union,” said Marijus, CEO of UNO Parks

Guest feedback has been overwhelmingly good. UNO Park received many positive remarks through social channels from parents of children with autism and down syndrome.

UNO Park is currently in the process of implementing the routes description boards, updating their menu with a wider selection, and has filmed a video that helps families prepare before they visit the park which will allow guests to have a better understanding of what to expect.

“I was fascinated by the work that the instructors did with the children. As I watched them, I wondered how such young instructors knew how to handle children in such a nice, wise and patient manner, while having a smile on their faces the entire time. Especially when working with children who have special needs? Since I came with four children, I was unable to climb the trees myself to help Ruglie (my daughter with Down syndrome). However, there were three rotating instructors who were teaching and helping her to go through all the obstacles. When Rugile finished the track she was feeling happy and proud, saying: ‘mom, I did it!’ I am grateful to UNO Parks for the wonderful team! – Parent, a guest at UNO Park
