Why did you choose your profession?
I am the Founder of Heritage Pediatric Therapies (HPTs). I was first introduced to the field of Speech-Language Pathology in 2004. At that time, I served as the Founding Assistive Technology Aide within a New York state regional school for children with severe disabilities. It was in my three-year service of this role that she grew to appreciate the impact of Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs) on student access and progress.

Further, I founded HPTs in response to the ever-growing demand for culturally and linguistically responsive intervention for children from diverse backgrounds.

What’s your favorite part about what you do?
Throughout my tenure within the field, I have facilitated professional developments, guest lecturer and curated national presentations on cultural and linguistic diversity. This is my favorite part about the field of Speech and Language Pathology.
How has your IBCCES training/credential helped you in your career?
It has heightened my credibility as a professional within the Distance Learning/Telehealth wave of today’s profession.
How do you use/implement what you learned in the IBCCES certification training?
This certification sets me and my business apart from others who are providing Speech Therapy online.

Deep passion to teach all ages about history and culture in an accessible and inclusive environment.

What’s your favorite part about what you do?

Seeing the connections made in each visitor and patron who enters the museum or attends a program.

How has your IBCCES training/credential helped you in your career?

Deepened my knowledge and understanding of how to make all aspects o the museum more inclusive and welcoming

How do you use/implement what you learned in the IBCCES certification training?

I use it every time I write a lesson plan, post on social media, send emails, and use the restroom. It is on the forefront of my mind when interacting with people at my job and in my personal life.
