Stephanie Holmes
CAS and Counselor
Why did you choose your profession?
When Asperger’s became part of the DSM in the 1990s the clinical world was not prepared to coach and counsel young adults and adults on the spectrum in relationships and marriage. Another neglected niche was those of faith in Neurodiverse marriages. Marriage and family counselors continue to use traditional modalities without considering neurology when approaching Neurodiverse couples.
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
When a couple gets out of years of hurt and makes progress in understanding each other and accepting their differences and building on their strengths.
How has your IBCCES training/credential helped you in your career?
I have been a counselor for over twenty years and having my CAS credential helps establish professionalism and expertise in the field of autism. |
