The Vitals™ App Awarded Premiere International Certification to Better Serve the Autistic Community

Vitals™ Aware Services, creators of the Vitals™ App, today announced that it has earned the Certified Autism Resource (CAR) designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

The Vitals™ App speaks clearly when vulnerable individuals can’t. This information is delivered securely and privately to a 911 operator, first responder, and/or approved member of the person’s family or caregiving team.

IBCCES is recognized internationally for setting the certification standards for professionals working with autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals and those with cognitive disorders. IBCCES has a 20-year track record as an industry leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for education, healthcare, and corporate professionals.

“Vitals is honored to have earned this important designation. We are always striving to provide the best and most helpful services to individuals and families. This certification further validates that we have been listening and responding to our many advocacy partners and have created valuable, timely, and relevant services to people living with invisible conditions and disabilities across the country” says Janeé Harteau, president, and chief executive officer of Vitals™ Aware Services.

The Vitals App allows a vulnerable person or caregiver to download an app, and voluntarily provide real-time critical information about medical conditions, visible and invisible intellectual and developmental conditions or disabilities, memory loss, and mental health challenges. The customized account profiles often include de-escalation cues and techniques, behavior triggers, current medications, etc.

The power of the Vitals App was on full display when Katelyn Kasel, a Minnesota resident with a cognitive disability, found herself in a potentially dangerous situation one evening while driving home from work. Check out Katelyn’s story here. Onsite first responders got access to critical information about Katelyn in real-time, dramatically changing the entire interaction.
