High Point Museum is now a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a credential awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations that complete training and certification to better understand and welcome autistic or sensory-sensitive guests and their families. In addition to staff training, IBCCES also conducted an onsite review to provide additional recommendations on how to better welcome and accommodate visitors, including sensory guides to help visitors understand the impact on the five senses for each exhibit area.

• Sesame Place was the first theme park in the world to receive the distinction of Certified Autism Center™ by IBCCES in 2018
• At the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions annual conference, Sesame Place participated in IBCCES’ press conference, “Overwhelming Data Shows Accessibility Matters”
• Pre-visit planning resources and sensory guides developed by IBCCES are available on the Sesame Place website for autistic and sensory-sensitive guests and other special needs

Growing Demand for Autism and Sensory Accommodations show ROI, and Other Benefits

With 1 in 6 people having sensory needs and 1 in 44 children diagnosed with autism in the US, according to the CDC, there is an overwhelming need for more accessibility options in the travel and entertainment industry.

The Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department has renewed its Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, to continue fostering a more inclusive and understanding community. The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) worked with the Department to provide renewal certification program to ensure first responders have new and up-to-date information that builds upon existing knowledge to better assist and communicate with autistic or sensory-sensitive individuals, including scenario-based training.

Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Resort has earned the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, which is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations that complete staff training and an onsite review process to better understand and assist autistic and sensory-sensitive guests and their families. The completion of the program marks the first-ever autism-certified hotel in Jordan.
