The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens Now A Certified Autism Center™ To Further Enhance Accessibility, Joins Community-Wide Initiative

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is now a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a designation granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and is awarded to organizations that complete training and certification to better understand and welcome autistic visitors and their families. As part of the certification process, IBCCES will also conduct an onsite review to provide additional ways the Zoo can accommodate visitors, as well as create sensory guides for each exhibit.

The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), the global leader in training and certification on autism and cognitive disorders, appoints Dr. Binu to its executive advisory board. Dr. Binu specializes in pediatric neuro-disabilities with a special interest in the early recognition of autism and developmental delays. He completed his general pediatrics and highly specialized pediatric neurodisability grid training in the United Kingdom, where he worked as a consultant before moving to Abu Dhabi, UAE. Currently, he holds dual licensing as both a “Consultant in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities” and also “General Pediatric Consultant” granted by the Department Of Health (DOH) UAE.

The Springfield, Missouri, Convention & Visitors Bureau Becomes an Autism Certified Center™ in a Step Toward Making the City a More Inclusive Destination

In a continuing effort to be more inclusive and welcoming to all, the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau is now a Certified Autism Center™.

The Springfield CVB is the first destination marketing organization in the state to earn this designation and one of five certified CVBs nationwide. The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards awards the certification to organizations where staff complete training to understand better, assist and welcome autistic and sensory-sensitivity people.
