Eric Rossen, Ph.D., NCSP

Dr. Eric Rossen is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, a licensed psychologist in Maryland, and a credentialed National Register Health Service psychologist. Dr. Rossen has worked in public schools and in independent practice and has served as a college instructor and adjunct faculty at the University of Missouri and Prince George’s Community College. He has presented across the US and internationally, and published dozens of articles and book chapters related to school psychology, school safety, and trauma. He is most recently the editor of Supporting and Educating Traumatized Students: A Guide for School-Based Professionals, 2nd Edition, and co-author of the book Applying a Trauma- Informed Framework to The IEP Process: From Referral to Development.

Pamela Rollins

Pamela R. Rollins, MS Ed.D., SLP

PROFESSOR, UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS-DALLAS

Pamela R Rollins, Professor, is a faculty member in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at UTD/Callier Center for Communication Disorders. She obtained a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Boston University (1981), a Master’s of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1983), and a Doctorate of Education from Harvard University (1994). Dr. Rollins has spent almost 40 years dedicated to understanding, identifying, and treating children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She was a four-time gubernatorial appointee to the Texas Council for Autism and PDD during the Perry administration, founding director of UTD/Callier Center, Early CLASS preschool of children with ASD, and the lead author on Robokind’s Robots4Autism social skills curriculum.

ECI PROGRAM DIRECTOR, KATY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Martha Aki is currently the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Program Director in Katy Independent School District in Katy Texas.  Martha has been the with ECI (IDEA Part C) Program in Katy Independent School District for 28 years. In her 40 years as an educator, she has also been a Teacher of Students with Auditory Impairments, Teacher of the Early Childhood Special Education Program as well as a Kindergarten Teacher. Ms. Aki has been a leader in innovative practices for children within ECI.  She along with her staff have developed a group coaching model with the parent, child and provider.  This model has been successful, especially for children on the autism spectrum.

David Bateman, PhD

PROFESSOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION, SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY

David F. Bateman, Ph.D., is a professor at Shippensburg University in the Department of Educational Leadership and Special Education where he teaches courses on special education law, assessment, and facilitating inclusion. He is a former due process hearing officer for Pennsylvania for over 580 hearings. He uses his knowledge of litigation relating to special education to assist school districts in providing appropriate supports for students with disabilities and to prevent and to recover from due process hearings. He has been a classroom teacher of students with learning disabilities, behavior disorders, intellectual disability, and hearing impairments. Dr. Bateman earned a Ph.D. in special education from the University of Kansas. He has recently co-authored the following books: A Principal’s Guide to Special Education, A Teacher’s Guide to Special Education, Charting the Course: Special Education in Charter Schools, Special Education Leadership: Building Effective Programming in Schools, and Current Trends and Issues in Special Education. He was also recently co-editor of a special issues of TEACHING Exceptional Children focusing on legally proficient IEPs.

DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL OUTREACH, DOTCOM THERAPY

Nicole Pounds, M.S. CCC-SLP is a licensed speech language pathologist and the Director of Clinical Outreach at DotCom Therapy. She has been a teletherapist for four years, providing speech and language therapy for students remotely. As the Director of Clinical Outreach, Nicole leads DotCom Therapy’s community outreach programs including educational events, resource creation and distribution, and their DotCommunity Enrichment Programs which aim to provide much needed therapy and support to clients, schools, and organizations all around the world. She is passionate about empowering educators and leaders to make a difference for those with special needs in their own communities and has extensive experience both providing direct therapy and training educators and families.

Ann Leonard Zabel, PhD

PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY, CURRY COLLEGE

Dr. Leonard-Zabel is a Full Professor of Psychology and serves as the Psychology Department Coordinator at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. She owns and operates a private clinic specializing in School Psychology/School Neuropsychology and Clinical Forensic Examining. Dr. Leonard-Zabel provides assessments, consultation, and training to schools, families, clinics, law firms, and courts locally, nationally, and internationally. She holds diplomat and fellow certificates/certifications in Neuropsychology, Forensic Counseling and Examining, Psychotherapy, Addictions, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Clinical Anxiety, Disability Analysis, Brain Coaching, Telepractice and in Homeland Security, among others. Dr. Stephen Shore is one of the most respected speakers and voices for self-advocacy in the world. He is currently the President Emeritus of the Asperger’s Association of New England in the US and serves on the boards of several autism-related organizations. He is also a Professor at Adelphi University, where his research focuses on matching best practices to the needs of people with autism.

Kayla Plutschack is a licensed occupational therapist with 10 years of experience, including 4 years as a telehealth provider for DotCom Therapy. Kayla aided in the development of DotCom Therapy’s occupational therapy program in 2016. She currently serves as the lead occupational therapist providing mentorship to new and experienced telehealth providers. Kayla has experience providing direct therapy to students at brick and mortar schools as well as virtual schools. Kayla has a passion for advancing telehealth occupational therapy services locally, nationally, and internationally. She has presented on telehealth services in occupational therapy at both the state and national levels and also guest lectures at several occupational therapy programs across the United States. She has designed and conducted several research studies measuring the efficacy of occupational therapy interventions and assessments provided via telehealth. Through her experience at DotCom Therapy, Kayla continues to advocate for increased access to occupational therapy services for the betterment of her students, families, and their educators.

Aaron J. Fischer, Ph.D., BCBA-D

LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST, BEHAVIOR ANALYST, PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY/PSYCHIATRY UNIVERSITY OF UTAH

Dr. Fischer has been working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and individuals with social-emotional and behavioral problems, and their families, for over 15 years. He graduated from the University of Miami, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and worked as a research coordinator at the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities.  Dr. Fischer completed his master’s and doctoral degree in school psychology at Louisiana State University.  Before arriving at the University of Utah in 2014, he completed his predoctoral internship in clinical psychology at the May Institute in Massachusetts.  Specifically, Dr. Fischer’s clinical interests concentrate on the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with ASD and related disorders, as well as providing support and training to their families.  Additionally, he has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of problem behavior, as well as the acquisition of adaptive skills, in individuals with ASD and developmental disabilities.

Sheila DesaiSheila Desai, Ph.D., NCSP

DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONAL PRACTICE AT THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS

Sheila Desai, Ph.D. is the Director of Educational Practice at the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Dr. Desai has been in the field of school psychology for 12 years with previous experience in practice, teaching, and research. Seven of those years, she worked in Massachusetts and Connecticut as a school psychologist serving K-12 students in Boston Public Schools and EASTCON clinical day treatment settings. Her current role at NASP focuses on social justice, advocacy for students with disabilities, and technical support for school psychologists. She also represents NASP on the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities.

Dr BrownSandy Brown, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, BCBA, CAS

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY’S DOCTOR OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM

Dr. Sandy Brown has been a licensed occupational therapist since 1998. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics (BCP) through the AOTA, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and a Certified Autism Specialist (CAS). She has specialized in pediatrics, however has worked in a variety of settings including home based, schools, private practice, residential facilities, outpatient clinics, and academia. She has also served as a center manager for a large outpatient rehabilitation clinic and serves as Race Director for the Bayada Regatta, the largest pararowing regatta in the country,

She received her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Florida in 2017 where she conducted research examining the impact of challenging behaviors on a child’s participation in therapy. Dr. Brown’s research interests include challenging behaviors, pediatric outcomes, quality of life, participation, knowledge translation, and clinical reasoning. Currently, Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor in Jacksonville University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program.

Rachel C. Morgan, Ed.D., CAS

FOUNDER/PRESIDENT, ADAM MORGAN FOUNDATION

Dr. Morgan graduated with a Doctoral degree in Instructional Leadership, with an emphasis in Andragogy from Lindenwood University in 2017. Her expertise in inclusive practices looks deeper into the beliefs, values, and attitudes/assumptions with regards to our current school climate, culture, and mindset while supporting individuals with disabilities. She previously worked as a Service Coordinator/Child Find Coordinator for more than 9 years in the Early Intervention Program for the State of Missouri. She and her husband also have personal experience raising a child with a diagnosis of autism as an attribute and feel very honored to be chosen to raise four children of all abilities. Dr. Morgan is currently running the Adam Morgan Foundation which assists families that are raising children with autism. The Foundation focuses on finding community resources and helping to finance those interventions for the family in their daily lives such as different therapies, equipment for the home, sensory and/or speech camps, and more.

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST SPECIALIST

John Hite, Psy.D., M.Ed., is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of preschool and school-age children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and other health conditions.  Dr. Hite has training in school and clinical psychology across educational and medical settings and has been a school psychologist for ten years.  Before becoming a school psychologist, Dr. Hite was a specialist in the inclusion of students with severe disabilities and a special education teacher.  He also has extensive experience in working with state governments and organizations on the credentialing and practice of school psychology and advocacy for children.  Dr. Hite is previous Chair of the Credentialing Committee for the National Association of School Psychologists.

PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA & ASSOCIATE EDITOR OF APPLIED COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY

Tracy Packiam Alloway is a Professor of psychology at the University of North Florida. Tracy’s research has contributed to scientific understanding of working memory and specifically in relation to education and learning needs. She has provided consultancy to national organizations, such as the National Center for Learning Disabilities, and as well as to international organizations such as the Japanese Society for Developmental Psychology and the Center on Research on Individual Development and Adaptive Education of Children at Risk in Germany, among others.

She also provided consultancy to the World Bank on the impact of memory and learning in deprived populations. In addition to over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, 7 books, and 2 standardized test batteries on the topic of working memory, her research has also been featured on Good Morning America, the Today Show, Forbes, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, and Newsweek, and many others. She blogs for the Huffington Post and Psychology Today.

COMBAT STRESS RECOVERY PROGRAM, MANAGER AT WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT

As a WWP manager, Rich is responsible for the Combat Stress Recovery Program, across a ten-state area, developing mental health resources, referral networks, and supporting outreach to warriors living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and combat stress. He leads the team towards the planning, coordination, and execution of Project Odysseys.  Project Odyssey is an outdoor experiential learning program that allows warriors to challenge themselves both physically and mentally while in a supportive environment.  Additionally, Rich is responsible for planning and oversight related to hiring, training, budgeting, and maintaining key performance indicators for the team within his geographical area.  Lastly, he actively engages warriors living with combat stress and PTSD to enhance the quality of life, promote goal setting, and encourage mental wellness.

Rich holds a Master of Arts degree in Health Psychology from the Northcentral University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from Ashford University.  Rich is currently a doctoral candidate through Capella University in General Psychology.

EARLY INTERVENTION SPECIALIST & BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONIST FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD INTERVENTION (ECI) PROJECT TYKE IN THE KATY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Ms. Danton has been an Early Intervention Specialist and Behavior Interventionist for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Project TYKE in the Katy Independent School District for the last eight years. She works as a Behavior Interventionist and Early Intervention Specialist for ECI in both individual cases and group services. Previously a speech pathologist for ECI, she now focuses on early childhood behavior with a concentration in autism, assisting with evaluations, enrollments, and behavior consultations on behalf of coworkers when needed. She holds both a Bachelor and a Master of Arts in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston.

Ms. Danton holds an Advanced Certification in Autism Specialty from IBCCES as well as a telepractice certification. Prior to working with ECI, she was the Program Director for FOCUS Academy, a school for children both on the autism spectrum and who exhibit other behavioral challenges. She was an ABA therapist while completing her Masters degree. As someone who has been instrumental in the implementation of the group teaching model, Ms. Danton has presented in front of the State ECI Leadership team and has been on teams that secured five educational grants for the program.

Carol WeinmanCarol Weinman, Esq., C.A.S.

AUTISM EXPERT, CONSULTANT & ATTORNEY

Carol Weinman is an attorney, autism expert, international speaker, mediator, author and parent. She is a former Philadelphia Prosecutor and Criminal Defense Attorney internationally recognized for her unique dual expertise in criminal law and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Ms. Weinman consults nationally on ASD with lawyers, psychologists, educators and families. She appeared weekly as a Legal Analyst for a CBS-Affiliated Talk Show focusing on autism and the law. Ms. Weinman speaks in the U.S. and internationally and conducts webinars and trainings. She has published articles on Autism and Crime and is currently developing a school curriculum.

David Criswell, MA, LPC, CAS, has been employed at Bayes Achievement Center for the past 18 years.  He began his career working directly with students on the Autism Spectrum and students with emotional and behavioral disorders in both the school and residential settings.  Over the years he has transitioned into the role of Behavioral Specialist and more recently Licensed Professional Counselor.  David provides therapy to students of various ages and with various mental health diagnoses in individual, group, and family settings.  David also works with the local university to provide group counseling to graduate students that are seeking to become licensed therapists.

EARLY INTERVENTION SPECIALIST, KATY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Denise Cloyes is currently an Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) for ECI Project TYKE in Katy, Texas. ECI Project TYKE is the early intervention program for the Katy Independent School District. Denise earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education (1-8) from the University of Houston and is a certified special education teacher for early childhood through high school. In addition, she is ESOL certified, is an Advanced Certified Autism Specialist, and is a Board Certified Telepractice Specialist.

Denise has worked in the Katy Independent School District for 24 years. She has taught LIFE Skills and also in the Early Childhood Special Education classroom. She has served as a special education team leader, and was also a member of the Early Childhood Special Education Leadership Team.

This is Denise’s tenth year with ECI Project TYKE and she is currently the group coordinator. In addition to teaching a variety of groups, Denise coordinates family group services and is responsible for planning and preparing group sessions. Last, Denise and her ECI group team have been the recipients of 5 Katy ISD Education Foundation grants totaling twenty-five thousand dollars. These grants have allowed the ECI Project TYKE group program to grow and flourish for the last five years. ECI Project TYKE has become a state model for group teaching and has presented to ECI leadership in Texas in addition to having hosted observation days for many of the Texas ECI programs.

PSYCHOLOGIST FOR CHILD AND ADOLESCENTS AND BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONIST IN MOROCCO

Meryem Ouahmane is a Child and Adolescent Psychologist, a behavior interventionist. Meryem completed her master in psychology at the university of Hertfordshire and a master in international law (Legal Rights of people with disabilities) at the Sorbonne university.

She took her ABA courses certification from Florida institute of technology. She is currently pursuing advanced courses at the Brandman university. Meryem has accumulated experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities over the span of nine years. She was employed at the ministry of education at the special education and worked at a center-Based ABA in the capacity of senior ABA therapist in Abu Dhabi.  

She presented lectures, seminars, and workshops across Africa,  Middle-East, Asia and Europe, in the field of Psychology, Applied behavior analysis, and the legal right of individuals with disabilities.

Meryem is currently working with children, adolescents and young people with developmental disabilities from diverse backgrounds, providing psychological support and assessments across multiple education settings, including government, independent schools and private practice. Meryem collaborates with ministries and NGOs in Morocco in all areas ranging from psychology, ABA, Autism, and a myriad of disabilities.
