Dr. Stephen Shore, Ed.D, CAS

Professor, Best-Selling Author, International Speaker, Autism Expert & Autistic Self-Advocate

Dr. Stephen Shore is one of the most respected speakers and voices for self-advocacy in the world. He is currently the President Emeritus of the Asperger’s Association of New England in the US and serves on the boards of several autism-related organizations. He is also a Professor at Adelphi University, where his research focuses on matching best practices to the needs of people with autism.

Diagnosed with strong autistic tendencies and Atypical Development when he was young, he was recommended to be in a residential institution as he was found to be unsuitable for outpatient treatment. With the support of his parents, teachers and his wife, Dr. Shore overcame the odds to become a University professor and an international consultant on issues faced by adults with autism. He also works with children with autism and has authored several books.

Stephen presents and consults internationally on adult issues pertinent to education, relationships, employment, advocacy, and disclosure. He has authored several books, including the critically acclaimed Understanding Autism for Dummies. He also released the DVD Living Along the Autism Spectrum: What It Means to Have Autism or Asperger Syndrome.

Dr. Binu George MBBS, FRCPCH(UK), Dual CCT(UK)

Paediatric Consultant (Paediatric Neuro-disability) & Head of the Child Development Department at NMC Royal Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Dr. Binu is a Paediatric Consultant specializing in Paediatric Neurodisability with a special interest in the early recognition of autism and developmental delays. He completed his General Paediatric and Highly Specialised Paediatric Neurodisability Grid training in the UK. He worked as a Paediatric Neurodisability Consultant in the UK before moving to Abu Dhabi, UAE.
He has been instrumental in setting up one of the first multi-disciplinary child development clinics in Abu Dhabi and was an advisor to the Crown Prince’s Court for all programs related to children and adults with disabilities.
He currently is the founder and Head of the Child Development Department in the NMC healthcare group, wherein he oversees the setting up of child development departments in various facilities under the NMC brand. He serves as an appointed advisor to the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi, for all activities related to Children with Disabilities and is a member of the 14-member international advisory panel to the Early Childhood Authority in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He is currently contributing to the structure and governance of countrywide Early Intervention Services for the children of Abu Dhabi.
