The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), the global leader in training and certification on autism and cognitive disorders, announced today the appointment of Martha Aki to its executive advisory board. Aki is currently the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Program Director in Katy Independent School District in Katy, Texas. Her experience and innovative practices for children within ECI (which have earned Katy ISD five educational foundation grants) will strengthen IBCCES’ impact in educational settings.

“With servant leadership at the core, I am passionate about spreading the word about the importance of early intervention,” said Martha Aki. “The difference is made through servant leadership where mentoring staff and other state directors is key. Developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything I do, both professionally and personally.”

Aki has been the with ECI Program in Katy Independent School District for 28 years. In her 40 years as an educator, she has also been a teacher of students with auditory impairments, teacher of the early childhood special education program as well as a kindergarten teacher. Aki is also the Chair of the Texas Council of ECI Program Directors Consortia and serves on the Katy Independent School District Special Education Leadership Team and coordinates the transition of students from ECI to other special services once they pass age 3. In addition, Aki represented the state of Texas as a Part C representative at the IDEA Data Center for State Analysis Plan for the United States.  She has also worked with various Texas Legislators and Texans Care for Children to move initiatives and new legislation benefiting the ECI child.
