American Trauma Society Achieves Certified Autism Center™ Designation, Elevating Community Care and Inclusivity

The American Trauma Society, Pennsylvania Division (ATSPA), has been awarded the Certified Autism Center™ designation by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). This designation recognizes organizations that have trained 80% or more of their first responders and public-facing team members to effectively communicate with and respond to the needs of autistic and sensory-sensitive community members.

The Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department has renewed its Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, to continue fostering a more inclusive and understanding community. The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) worked with the Department to provide renewal certification program to ensure first responders have new and up-to-date information that builds upon existing knowledge to better assist and communicate with autistic or sensory-sensitive individuals, including scenario-based training.

Western Berks Ambulance Association Earns Certified Autism Center™ Designation

Western Berks Ambulance Association has become the first emergency services team in Reading, Pennsylvania, to receive the Certified Autism Center™ designation.

This designation is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and requires that 80% or more of the EMTs, paramedics, and other Western Berks Ambulance Association public-facing workers complete training through IBCCES. The training and certification program helps first responders to better understand, approach, and provide support to autistic individuals or those with other sensory sensitivities. The Paoli Fire Company has become the first fire company in Pennsylvania to receive the Certified Autism Center™ designation. This designation is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), which means the public-facing staff and firefighters at Paoli Fire Company have received training through IBCCES to better understand and assist autistic individuals or those with sensory sensitivities.
