Traverse City Becomes the First Certified Autism Destination™ in the Midwest, Bringing Accessibility to the Forefront of Travel and Entertainment

In September 2023, Traverse City began its mission to provide a more inclusive and welcoming city for autistic individuals and their families looking for vacation destinations. The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) proudly announces that Traverse City has now achieved the Certified Autism Destination™ (CAD) with 19 organizations completing certification to ensure that autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors have a positive and welcoming experience at their venues.

Mt. Holiday Ski Resort Joins the Growing List of Certified Autism Centers™ in Traverse City, Reinforcing Commitment to Accessibility

Mt. Holiday Ski Resort proudly joins Traverse City’s accessibility movement, achieving the designation of a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). As part of the designation, staff completed training on autism and sensory needs, and will receive an onsite review by IBCCES to implement additional opportunities for inclusion.

Crystal Mountain Resort Receives Autism Training, Joins Traverse City’s Inclusivity Initiative

Crystal Mountain becomes a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) after completing training from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). This certification is awarded to organizations that prove their ongoing commitment to accommodating all guests, including autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals. To earn this designation, staff undergo an autism-specific training and certification process to equip them with the necessary skills and resources to provide the best service possible to all guests. Additionally, as part of the certification, IBCCES conducted an onsite review at Crystal Mountain and provided recommendations on accommodations for visitors.
