Student Experience & Outcomes Division first college department to earn the designation

Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Student Experience & Outcomes (SE&O) division is now an official Certified Neurodiverse Workplace (CNW). Awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), the program is designed to help the division work effectively with neurodivergent team members and students, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurodivergences.

The Missouri City Parks & Recreation Department Earns Certified Autism Center™ Designation to Enhance Accessibility Offerings

The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) is proud to announce that the City of Missouri City Parks & Recreation Department has achieved Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, becoming the first Parks & Recreation agency in the state of Texas to achieve this status. This recognition signifies the department’s commitment to building inclusive spaces and programs for autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals and their families. The team completed autism-specific training and certification to better understand and welcome these community members. Additionally, IBCCES conducted an onsite review to provide the department with valuable insights on further enhancing their facilities and created detailed sensory guides for recreation areas as part of the certification process.

VICTORIA, TEXAS – Get an inside look at autism from acclaimed author and speaker Dr. Stephen Shore as he shares his personal experiences and best practices in working with individuals with autism during a free special lecture on August 17. Diagnosed with “Atypical Development and strong autistic tendencies” and “too sick” for outpatient treatment Dr. Shore was recommended for institutionalization. Nonverbal until four and with much support from his parents, teachers, wife and others, Stephen is now a professor at Adelphi University where his research focuses on matching best practice to the needs of people with autism.

This one-hour lecture will be held Monday, August 17 from 7-8 p.m. at the Johnson Symposium Center at Victoria College, located at 2200 E. Red River in Victoria, Texas.
