Chad A.

Autism Certificate, Communications & Marketing Manager at Arizona Museum of Natural History (AZMNH)

What’s your favorite part about what you do?

I have the opportunity to share with everyone the fantastic things happening at AZMNH. This includes not only the dinosaurs and other exhibits, but also the people who make it all possible, as well as the visitors themselves.

How has your IBCCES training/credential helped you in your career?

There are several ways I apply my training. Firstly, it helps me understand which aspects of our museum may be of interest to visitors with autism. I can also ensure to tag social media posts that might include loud noises or flashing lights, so viewers are aware before they view them. As I walk around the museum to capture photos or videos, I am mindful of how my presence may be perceived and how I can better approach a visitor.

How do you use/implement what you learned in the IBCCES certification training?

The knowledge I’ve acquired through my IBCCES certification has provided me with the tools to assist my clients in addressing their behaviors, whether in the clinic, at home or in the community.
