NMC Royal Hospital Khalifa City Emergency and Pediatrics Departments Celebrate First-In-Region Certification for Autism Care

NMC Royal Hospital Khalifa City Emergency and Pediatrics Department in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is celebrating a first-in-region accolade. The hospital departments have become the first of its kind in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region to become a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC). The designation is awarded after staff complete training and certification provided by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), with the goal of adding to physician, nursing and nonclinical staff’ existing knowledge and updating them on research and best practice to better provide assistance, treatment and care for autistic and other patients of determination needs.

Dubai Announces Initiative to Become First Certified Autism Destination™ in Middle East North Africa Region

Specialized training will be provided to attractions and resorts as a first step to welcome autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors from all over the globe and start the journey towards certification that will has a lasting impact

 

Dubai, UAE — December 15, 2022 — Dubai is taking steps to enhance the destination’s accessibility and inclusion for travelers from all over the world to the next level. The Dubai Economy and Tourism department is spearheading this movement with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to designate the first-ever Certified Autism Destination™ (CAD) outside the United States. The first phase of this initiative means all Dubai attractions, hospitality and entertainment organizations will have access to specialized autism-specific training designed to enhance staff knowledge, understanding and strategies for communication, guest experience and safety to better serve and accommodate people of determination.
