High Point Becomes First Certified Autism Destination on the East Coast

Many local organizations have made the commitment to become Certified Autism Centers™ (CAC) to make High Point a more inclusive destination to live, work and play.

High Point has become the first Certified Autism Destination™ (CAD) on the east coast and the second CAD in the United States. This distinction is awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and recognizes High Point’s commitment to making its attractions, hotels, restaurants, and public spaces accessible and welcoming to autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals and their families.

Visalia, California, Becomes First Certified Autism Destination

With the growing demand from travelers for accessibility and inclusion, Visalia has taken steps to ensure visitors have
multiple trained and certified options to choose from

Through an initiative started by Visit Visalia, in partnership with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), Visalia is now the first city to achieve the Certified Autism Destination™ designation. This designation is granted by IBCCES to communities where multiple attractions, lodging, and entertainment options have completed a training and certification process to ensure autistic or sensory-sensitive visitors have a positive experience. Becoming a CAD will help Visit Visalia in its mission to encourage travelers to choose Visalia as a destination and differentiate it from other options in the area.

ZooMontana Completes Autism Certification to Join the Initiative to Make Billings More Accessible

ZooMontana is now a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a designation awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations that complete training and certification to better understand and welcome autistic or sensory-sensitive visitors and their families. IBCCES will also conduct an onsite review to provide additional ways the Zoo can accommodate visitors and create detailed sensory guides for each exhibit as part of the certification process.
